TU eMpower Africa e.V.

African communities face significant challenges due to the lack of access to energy. We analyze the development potential of various communities and regions in Africa. Therefore we use results which have been obtained by our members during their theses and student projects at Technical University of Munich. This process ensures innovative solutions, which we apply individually in projects for the different communities that we work with. Projects In 2018 TUMA launched its first Energy-Water-Food system in St. Rupert Mayer, a rural community 160 km far from Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. The idea behind the project has been providing people with a reliable access to energy, but also with safe drinking water as well as food security. As subsistence farming is the main food source in most African rural areas, we work making our system scalable in other parts of the continent, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7. Our mission in Rwanda is to promote climate-smart agriculture practices through participative and creative techniques, with a special emphasis on the EWF System.
